Clermont

Rolling hills, chain-of-lakes water, and room to breathe west of Orlando.

Clermont breaks the Florida-is-flat rule. Set in the rolling hills of Lake County west of Orlando, it is built around the Clermont Chain of Lakes and crowned by the Citrus Tower, a relic of the region's orange-grove era that still marks the skyline. What was once citrus country has grown into one of Central Florida's most sought-after residential corridors — close enough to Orlando and the attractions to commute, far enough to feel like its own town.

Hills, lakes, and an athlete's town

The terrain is the story here. Clermont's elevation changes are rare in Florida, which is why triathletes and cyclists train on its hills and why so many homes come with long views over water. The Clermont Chain of Lakes threads through town — Lake Minneola anchors the waterfront downtown, with a lakeside beach, a splash pad, and the South Lake Trail running along the shore. Boating, paddleboarding, and lakefront living are everyday features rather than resort amenities, and the historic downtown has filled in with breweries, restaurants, and a weekly farmers market.

Who buys here, and why

Clermont draws families and relocating professionals who want newer construction, larger lots, and a slower pace without giving up Orlando access. Highway 50 and the Florida Turnpike connect the area east toward the city, and the attractions corridor sits within a reasonable drive to the south, which is why many theme-park and hospital employees settle here. Master-planned communities and golf-course neighborhoods dominate the newer south side of town, while established streets near the historic center offer character and mature trees. For buyers priced out of Orlando proper, Clermont is often the answer.
